Bored yet again...

I remember doing brain teasers like this in junior high, here's a small one to get things started.

Four guys, Tom, Jeff, Drew, and Luke are seated at a table talking about their vacations.  They went to California, Texas, Florida, and Arizona, and rode on a lion, tiger, zebra, and horse to get there.

-The man riding the zebra did not smoke.
-Drew declared that he loved Miami
-The man riding the tiger had a cigarette with Luke
-Tom said, "Buy your horse a new saddle Drew.  I saw some during my trip to California
-The man riding the tiger mentioned that he had seen the Alamo in Texas
-Jeff is a chain smoker

For each man, where did he go and how did he get there.

Bored...

So I'm just sitting at work, it's been a fairly slow week so far.  I haven't had this much empty time in awhile.  So anyway, I've just been looking at riddles pretty much for the past hour or so.  I guess I'll share a few.  Some of these have been around for some time, so some of you may know them.

LIAR!!!

You walk up to a mountain that has two paths. One leads to the other side of the mountain, and the other will get you lost forever. Two twins know the path that leads to the other side. You can ask them only one question each. Except! One lies and one tells the truth, and you don't know which is which. So, What do you ask?

Fade Me Up

A man was in a small town for the day, and needed a haircut. He noticed that there were only two barbers in town, and decided to apply a bit of logical deduction to choosing the best one. Looking at their shops, he saw that the first one was very neat and the barber was clean shaven with a nice haircut. The other shop was a mess, and the barber there needed a shave and had a bad cut besides. Why did the man choose to go to this barber?

Coins Galore

There are three containers. One of them has only pennies from the year 2005 in it, one has only pennies from the year 1975 in it, and the third has an equal number of each. They are labeled "2005," "1975" and "mixed," however, you know that the labels have been switched, so that each container is marked incorrectly. Can you properly label the containers without looking in them, and only pulling one coin out from one container?

2 hours and 15 minutes left at work, and there is absolutely nothing to do.  Someone please save me from the boredom...

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade

So I got this small book of inspirational quotes and sayings, Shoot for the Moon, as a gift from a friend.  Some are kind of cheesy, but others I like.

"If life gives you lemons, make lemonade"
That ones a classic that my friend always used to quote.  Gotta learn to make the best of what you've been given instead of complaining or thinking of what you're lacking.

"The journey is often more satisfying than the destination"
I've been trying to hold onto this one a bit lately.  I see where I would like to be, but ultimately it's how I get there that will eventually reflect a lot about me rather than being there.

"Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly"
Nothing worth having can ever be worth not losing or failing in.  With the fear of loss or failure, you'll never be able to fully give everything to obtain something.

"Fall seven times, stand up eight"
Perseverance, and determination.

"I'm a slow walker, but I never walk back"
You can't have forward progress while living in the past.  Even if it turns to a crawl, move forward.

It won't be easy, but walk with me

I know that there are going to be times when the journey won't be easy, when it will feel easier to just walk away and give it all up.  But I've lived that life, and it was incomplete, lacking.  You've called me to where I am now to grow me, never promising me that it would be easy.  Yet you've called me here knowing what I can be, and promising that you'll stand by me even when others won't.  That through the ugliness of who I am, who I can be, the selfishness of my heart, and faults that comprise me, you'll still walk next to me, pick me up and form me to who I am supposed to be.  Through the struggle you will strengthen me.  Through the pain you will comfort me.  Through the failures you will forgive me.  Through the transgressions you will give me grace.  Through it all you will love me.  You said it won't be easy, but you also said you would walk with me.
